2019 Subaru Forester VS 2019 Toyota RAV4 | Longview, WA

OVERVIEW - FIERCE COMPETITION

The 2019 Subaru Forester stands toe-to-toe with the 2019 Toyota RAV4. Both of these vehicles are known for having excellent resale value and reputations for being reliable. They both have a three year/36,0000 miles warranty and boast high safety scores, but the Subaru Forester is better in many other ways.

2019 SUBARU FORESTER VS 2019 TOYOTA RAV4: PERFORMANCE

When it comes to what's under the hood of these vehicles, the differences are marginal. The 2019 Subaru Forester comes with the tried and true 2.5L flat four engine. The flat 2.5L four-cylinder engine is good for 182 HP and 176 LB-FT of torque. It's paired to a smooth shifting continually variable transmission (CVT) and gets a considerable 29 mpg combined. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine as well but makes 203 HP and 184 LB-FT of torque. On the RAV4, you'll see the engine matched an automatic 8-speed transmission and earns 30 mpg combined.

Both vehicles can be AWD, but you'll have to pay extra for the AWD system in the RAV4. The Symmetrical AWD system comes included on the Subaru Forester. The Forester has a better turning radius than the RAV4, even with AWD. You can turn on a dime with a turning diameter of 35.4 feet in the Forester versus 36.1 feet in the RAV4. Again, minor differences between the two vehicles, but when you're dealing with the pinnacle of the SUV class, that's what we expect.

2019 SUBARU FORESTER VS 2019 TOYOTA RAV4: ROOMY INTERIOR

The interior is where you'll see the New Forester run circles around the RAV4. In the Pacific Northwest, we tend to spend a lot of time on the road, because we're always on the move. Whether you're stuck in traffic trying to cross the bridge into Vancouver, WA or traveling to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, OR, you'll be spending quite some time inside your vehicle. Taking that into consideration, the new Subaru Forester has more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room in both the front seats and back seats than the Toyota RAV4 does. The EPA passenger volume is 111.6 cubic feet in the Subaru Forester. Comparing that to the much smaller 98.9 cubic feet of passenger volume in the RAV, you can see how you'd feel more comfortable and less cramped in the Forester.

2019 SUBARU FORESTER VS 2019 TOYOTA RAV4: Technology

Regardless of the trim that you select for your Forester, each 2019 Subaru Forester comes with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So, even if you send green texts, you'll be able to connect your phone to your new Subaru with ease. You'll see Apple CarPlay on the 2019 RAV4, but they've forgotten our Android-wielding friends and family. On the Subaru Forester, you'll be able to make calls and texts hands-free, stream music, and use the navigation seamlessly.

2019 SUBARU FORESTER VS 2019 TOYOTA RAV4: Safety

Subaru vehicles are known for being some of the safest cars on the road. Most models receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award each year due to always pushing the envelope and making cars and SUVs the safest they can be. The 2019 Subaru Forester earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, while the 2019 RAV4 still has to work on somethings to receive an IIHS award. The Subaru Forester comes standard with the EyeSight collision avoidance system, and the RAV4 comes with Toyota Safety sense standard.

2019 SUBARU FORESTER VS 2019 TOYOTA RAV4: Pricing

The New Subaru Forester is going to give you the biggest bang for your buck hands down. With more standard features like AWD, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, more room in the front and rear, and a nicer interior all at a lower price point, it's a no brainer as to why so many Longview residents choose a Subaru Forester.
