The all-new 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness takes Subaru’s most rugged SUV even further with a bold new design language, upgraded suspension, and enhanced off-road performance. Still showing off a 9.5 inches of ground clearance, the Wilderness now features electronically controlled dampers, improved towing capability, and advanced cabin technology.

Arriving at dealerships in early 2026, the Outback Wilderness sets itself apart from the 2025 model with a tougher exterior, new interior upgrades like available Nappa leather and a 360° camera, and re-engineered stability systems. Whether you’re tackling forest trails or cruising the highway, the 2026 Outback Wilderness is Subaru’s most capable version yet.

Performance Built for the Trail

  • Ground Clearance: Still best-in-class with 9.5 inches, giving you more clearance than many full-size SUVs.

  • Suspension Upgrades: New electronically controlled dampers use real-time sensors to reduce sway and improve stability both on rough trails and smooth highways.

  • Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine delivers 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a Lineartronic® CVT with 8-speed manual shift mode, it’s built for responsiveness.

  • AWD System: A refined Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive offers faster differential lockup and integrates steering data for improved cornering stability.

  • 0–60 Time (est.): Around 6.3–6.5 seconds, giving the Wilderness plenty of passing power.

Advanced X-MODE® and Off-Road Tech

  • Dual X-MODE®: Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes pair with the suspension for maximum off-road control.

  • All-Terrain Tires: Bridgestone Dueler all-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch matte black wheels deliver grip in mud, gravel, and snow.

  • Angles: Approach (20°), breakover (21.2°), and departure (22.5°) angles are all improved over the 2025 model for better obstacle clearance.

  • Towing Capacity: Up to 3,500 pounds, perfect for small campers or trailers.

Refined and Functional Exterior

The 2026 Outback Wilderness debuts an aggressive new design with bolder proportions and rugged styling.

  • Wilderness-exclusive anodized copper accents

  • Matte black roof rails with 800 lbs static load / 220 lbs dynamic capacity (perfect for roof racks, tents, and gear)

  • LED hexagonal fog lights and reinforced underbody protection

  • Reconfigured rear bumper for easier hitch installs and towing

  • Colors: Subaru will offer classic Wilderness shades including Geyser Blue, Crystal White Pearl, Magnetite Gray, Ice Silver, and Crystal Black, with new accent updates
