How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires?

2023 Subaru Outback Tires

A common question we’re asked at Bud Clary Subaru is, “How often should you rotate your tires?” According to the experts, most tires need to be rotated every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. However, we highly recommend taking a look at your owner’s manual for a more specific figure. Is it time for your next Subaru tire rotation? No matter if you have Subaru all-wheel drive tires or drive an FWD or RWD vehicle, we can help.

When to Rotate Tires on FWD and RWD Vehicles

For those who drive a front-wheel drive vehicle around Kelso and St Helens, the power from the engine is sent to the front wheels. This causes the front tires to wear faster than the rear tires. With a rear-wheel drive vehicle, the opposite is true. The rear wheels receive power so those tires wear down faster. When it’s time for a tire rotation on an FWD or RWD model, keep these tips in mind:

  • Expect to perform a tire rotation every 5,000 to 7,500 miles unless there are different recommendations from the manufacturer.
  • If you plan to rotate your tires at home on a front-wheel drive vehicle, move the rear tires to the front and swap sides. When you move the front tires back, keep them on the same side.
  • Reverse the process if you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle. Move the front tires directly back, then move the back tires forward and switch sides.

If you do a lot of driving on rough roads around Woodland, you may need to rotate your tires more often. Bring your vehicle by our service center, and we can create a plan that works for your driving habits.

Tire Rotation Tips for Subaru All-Wheel Drive Tires

Is your vehicle equipped with Subaru all-wheel drive tires? Tires on all-wheel drive vehicles wear differently, so tire rotations are recommended more frequently. Typically, you should perform a tire rotation on an all-wheel drive model every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Once again, we recommend sticking to the guidelines in your owner’s manual.
